As [/i]Buff Scoop[/i] first reported, Ryan Severson from San Jose Valley Christian visiited Boulder on January 18th. It didn't take him long to realize Colorado was the place he wanted to be. In fact, he knew long before the trip to the Centennial State. "I've always wanted to go to Colorado," Severson said. "I wanted to be recruited by them at the beginning of the process but didn't hear from them. So when the San Jose coaches went there I was really excited. I was committed to them at San Jose but when I got to Colorado I committed right away on the trip."
He was hosted by linebacker, Brady Daigh.
Though he is a beast on offense--recording 166 rushes for 1,951 yards and 32 touchdowns, plus 14 receptions for 385 yards and five touchdowns as a senior--Severson is being recruited on defense. "Colorado likes me as a safety or outside linebacker, possibly a nickel back."
Severson was recruited by Coach Clayton Adams.
For his outrageous statistics this past year, the new Buff was named the Senior of the Year by the San Jose Mercury News and the Offensive Player of the Year by Cal-Hi Sports.
Tomorrow, Severson and a few others athletes from Valley Christian will all be signing scholarships. The ceremony will take place between 1 and 1:30 Colorado time.
The best attribute Severson possesses is his speed. At a summer camp in Long Beach that had 1300 participants, he turned in the second fastest 40 recording with a 4.46 electronically timed mark. He also benches 305, squats 505, cleans 275, and has a 34.4-inch vertical
Besides the Spartans and Buffs, he had scholarship offers from Army, Navy and West Point. He carries a 4.0 core GPA, scored a 1700 on the SAT and would like to major in Business.
Buff Scoop will be speaking with Severson, and all of the other CU signees, tomorrow to get their comments on becoming Buffs.
